IIC – Acropolis Faculty of Management and Research (AFMR), Indore hosted a Session on “How to plan for Start-up, Legal and Ethical Steps” on 30^th July 2021. The speaker for this IIC driven activity was CA. Garjana Rathore. She is a practicing CA for the last 22 years. Her area of practice includes Audit, Taxation, Rear management, and Start-up consultancy.  The motive of this talk was to understand what ethical & legal procedures are to be followed while planning for a start-up.

The speaker started the session by pondering on the major reasons why start-ups fail. One should be ethical in various aspects like with board members and stakeholders. She covered and explained all the legal compliances while starting a new venture are:

1. Business structure and agreements.
2. Business licenses
3. Labour laws
4. Intellectual property laws
5. Start-up registration
6. Accounting
7. Taxation

She concluded the session explaining how the law procedures are different based on the different business structure like partnership or LLP or proprietorship or company.

Learning Outcomes: The session enriched our knowledge about:

1. It is important to adhere to all legal formalities done before starting any start-up so as to set up an ethical business firm.
