A Good Urban Development Must Have Appropriate Water Systems: ACROPOLIS Senses it as a Need for Civil Society
Indore, April 16, 2013: There has been always a need of quick and accurate designing of Water Supply and Sanitary Systems for any urbanization. And, to fulfill this need, Acropolis Institute, Indore has organized a Technical Seminar on ‘Water Supply and Sanitary Engineering, and Storm Water Design’ for City Technocrats and for the Senior Students by the Civil Engineering Department on April 16, 2013 in the campus.
The Seminar was divided into Three Technical Sessions, which were addressed by experts Ms. Sonika Mutha and Mr. Gaurav Malik from Bentley, New Delhi. They spoke and explained on WaterGEMS software demonstration and its possible uses with a case study of Water Supply Scheme Network Design, StormCAD software demonstration and its possible uses with a case study of Storm Drainage System Design for a township and SewerGEMS software demonstration and its possible uses with a case study of Sewerline Design for a city.
The seminar provided solutions to design proper, efficient and cost effective systems which in turn, benefit the society as a whole. Appropriate water supply schemes can be planned in a way to optimize the water use too. The software does help in providing quick solutions for improving system capabilities, reducing sewer overflows etc., and also would come quite handy in designing appropriate storm water drainage system.
The seminar was inaugurated by Mr. Ashok Sojatia (Chairman BOG, Acropolis). The seminar was marked by the presence of Dr. MD Agrawal (Director, AITR). Welcome address was given by Prof. SK Sohani (Head-Civil Engineering Dept., Acropolis). The Sessions were attended by about 200 Civil Faculty Members, Consulting Civil Engineers, Architects, Working Engineers of different Departments/Corporates and by Senior Civil Engineering Students. The program was coordinated by Prof. Alka Sharma. Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Namrata Chandel.
