Debate Competition 31 May 2016

On 31st May 2016, Debate Competition was organized at Acropolis Faculty of Management & Research, Indore on the topic “Replacing Income tax with Expenditure tax will do the world of good to our economy in which 11 students participated. The judges were Dr. Vishal Geete and Dr. Silky Janglani Jain. All the students participated enthusiastically, and the event was a great success. The winner of the event was Shreyas Sharma who debated in favor the topic and Tanya Nagpal who spoke against the topic. Shreyas Sharma focused on the Expenditure-tax giving rise to “The Saving Habit” of the society, whereas Taniya Nagpal spoke that Expenditure taxes are not forced to be paid the way income taxes are. The concept of income tax has gained support from many economists to political scientists from Adam Smith in “The Wealth of Nations” to Karl Marx in “The Communist Manifesto”. The event was organized by Students Finance Club and coordinated by Dr Varun Sarda.
