An expert talk was organized on ‘‘The Importance of  Design Thinking  in Management’ for the

MBA students  by Prof Juhi Kamakoty,  under the aegis  of  Kaizen Club and IIC  ( AF M  R ).

 

The resource person for the event  was   Er Sudarshan Verma , an alumnus of S G SI TS  Indore

with a rich legacy of experience in Information Technology. He is  currently the  Director

Technology at Advanz101,Indore

 

He educated the audience on Design thinking  concept and it’s  importance in management.

Inorder to reach innovative &  sustainable  solution to conventional problems, one needs  look at

it unconventionallty. A design thinking approach delineates the fusion of conventional and

creative thought process to build solutions.  Conventional wisdom helps in formulating the

problem and analyzing it but to synthesize solutions one needs to think creatively and

innovatively. Various techniques of creativity are brainstorming, thinking out of box, simulating

etc.

The resource person also said that it is  a blue ocean area where in lies the future business

solutions. The concept could be applied in management as well, though Design appears to be a

technical domain, Rather then water tight compartmentalization of domains, students should

understand ,  appreciate and   apply interdisciplinary concepts  to foster better  learning

The I T sector  is a booming sector,  which will require good managers to propel the business.

Any I T industry requires technocrats as well as managers to flourish. The management students

should thus focus on developing good managerial skills in  H R, Marketing, Finance and

Operations because these basic skills set are requirement to survive in any and every job.

 

The students were excited to know about this unsought field. The expert talk eventually ended opening up new horizons for the students.
