FDI in Retail October 2012

Acropolis Faculty of Management & Research organized an Inter B School Debate Competition cum Seminar under the umbrella of Finance Club, Mulyankan on 16^th Oct. 2012.  The topic for the debate was FDI in Retail: A Boon or Bane. The judges for the session were Prof N.K. Malani an Economist &Mr.Saurabh Gupta, CEO; Mall 8 Door & Speaker for the session was Mr.ArifShaikh, from Kalani Group.  The session started with the lightening of lamp by the Judges and Director, AFMR, Dr. Sumer Singh. Dr.AnantGwal gave a background note on the FDI in Retail. There were 30 participants from different B-Schools of Indore such as Institute of Management Studies, Institute of Professional Studies, Indore Public School, Medicaps, Chameli Devi Group of Institutions, ShriVaishanv Institute of Management, GovindramSeksaria Institute of Management & Research, & Indore Institute of Management & Research. The winners in both for and against were from IMS. While giving feedback, Judges Prof. N. K. Malani shared his views on effect of FDI on Economy as a whole. He supported the FDI in Retail for a developing country like India.  Mr.Saurabh Gupta shared his experience in retail Sector and told students about the practical issues related to FDI in retail sector. Mr.ArifShaikh, from Kalani Group was invited as a speaker at the valedictory session. He made students travel from FDI in retail sector from national to global level. He supported the topic as he felt that competition will make Indians perform more according to him. The Program was conducted by students of Finance Club and vote of thanks was given by Prof. Silky Janglani.
