Teaching by cases has been a unique method in management. Teachers are required to develop and constantly improve upon teaching pedagogy and design and delivery skills for management faculty members. With such objectives of equipping the faculty members with Case and Design & Delivery Skills, Acropolis Faculty of Management & Research has organized Faculty Development Program for third consecutive year on 18th – 20th October 2012
This FDP was meant for the faculty members pursuing or planning to pursue Ph.D. in Management, Economics and Commerce. The resource persons for this workshop were: Dr. Prashant Gupta [Director, Acropolis Technical Campus] and Dr. Sumer Singh [Director AFMR].
Day 1 and 2 were earmarked for Design & Delivery Skills for Management Faculty. The topics covered were- What & why of training, Distinction between Training, Learning & Education, Training as a sub-system of HRD, Training – Performance Linkage, Systematic Approach to Training TNA, Plan and Design, Implementation and Assessment, Learning Units & Learning Event, Setting objectives Theory & Exercise, Ways of learning, Categories of Knowledge & Skill, Training Methods Introduction & Factors for method selection, Preparation of Session Plan in the context of proposed micro practice sessions, Format – selecting and structuring content.
Day 2 covered topics like – Features of lecture, Input on Group Discussion, Factors influencing effectiveness, High order & Low order questions, Preparation for Lecture and Group discussion, Group Discussion – Micro Practice by the participants. Day 3 was on Case Study pedagogy. The topics covered were – Case Development: Do’s & Don’ts, Discussion on sample cases, Group exercises, Case Analysis, Case drafting, re-drafting, presentation, Teaching notes. The program ended with Valedictory & Feedback.
This two day FDP was attended by 30 participants from Acropolis campuses. Dr. Jitendra Kumar Sharma and Prof. Hemant Bamoriya were coordinators of the FDP.
