Indore HR Summit 2012

Acropolis Institute organized “Indore HR Summit-2012” on 14 July 2012 on the theme “Enhancing the Multi-dimensional Potential of Human Capital”.
The objective of this summit has been to share a common platform for top HR managers of the country and academicians who have discussed relevant issues in context with current business environment. Acropolis has taken the initiative of inviting top HR professionals from reputed organizations. It was a one-day event that has been a milestone in the field of HRM towards institution-industry interface.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Sumer S. Yadav, Director of Acropolis Faculty of Management and Research. He elaborated the need of conducting this HR summit and the benefits of such events. He also threw light upon significant HR issues that are prevalent in the industry posing threats as well as opportunities for the corporate world.
The Chief Guest Dr. Anil Kumar Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director, Amrapali Group, New Delhi appreciated the initiative of Acropolis for conducting this unique event. He also provided vital inputs on HR summit, where he highlighted that such idea sharing platforms are necessary to build a linkage between industry and academia. He emphasized that people management is the mantra for success of the organization. He highlighted the significance of nurturing leadership qualities in the individuals. He said that it is the unique qualities of people management that brings holistic progress of the organization.
There were four Sessions in this summit. First Session was on ‘Building gennext leaders’. Mr. K. Sudeep, Head Talent Acquisition, TCS told that the key to success lies in developing leaders for next generation. By citing examples from his organization, he elaborated on the significance of developing leaders at all levels. Mr. Neeraj Kumar, Head-HR from Wipro Techhas mentioned the role of HR manager in building the leaders of next generation. He said that next generation leader should be innovative and great motivator. Ms. Poonam Chandok from L&T has spoken on qualities expected from next generation leaders.Mr. Sanjay Trivedi (Head HR- Man Auto) has elaborated theme in his speech and highlighted the need of leader-managers. Mr. Sunil Tolani, COO (MP& CG) from Idea Cellular has emphasized on essentials of new generation leaders and their role in nation building.
Session 2 was based on ‘Managing attrition and minimizing human capital risks’. In this session, Mr. M. M. Rao, Vice President (Personnel & Administration), from Craftsman Automation began his speech by elaborating on attrition issues. He mentioned that employee engagement is necessary for the long term prosperity of the organization. He said that talent retention is the need of the hour. Mr. Neeraj Kumar has given his inputs on human capital risk management. Ms. Priyasri, India University Relations Leader from Honeywell explored the linkage between employee development and attrition management.
Session 3 was on ‘Cost of human capital and employability’. This session was addressed by Mr. D. Trivedi, COO & Executive Director from Rajratan Global, who has started off with eliciting the concept of cost of human capital. He has shown the importance of employability for the budding managers.
Prof. Bino Paul from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai gave inputs to MBA students on employability issue. He highlighted the role of business schools towards this initiative.
The final session was on ‘Work life balance and community development: The new mantra for sustainable HR practices’. This session was chaired by Mr. Sunil Kalyankar, HR Head from Case Equipments, who in his speech, detailed about work life proposition and its importance at all levels. Renowned Spiritual orator Pt. Vijay Shankar Mehta gave his speech on Life Management. By quoting the citations from Ramayana, he had shown the significance of life management and community development.
The Summit ended with summarization of the sessions by Director- Prof. Sumer S. Yadav. Shri Ashok Sojatia, Shri Gaurav Sojatia, Dr. Ashok Kumat have presented the mementoes to all the Guests. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Jitendra Sharma.
In this event, there were many industry participants from industries like Mahindra, Flexituff International, L&T, Liugong, Angel Broking, Nimbus, Mindsynergy, Capital Heights, Nimar Aqua, Magadh, Pratibha Syntex, Sanghi Group, Ruchi Soya, Capro Industries etc. Academicians and students from reputed B-schools like Indian Institute of Management, IMS-DAVV, IIPS-DAVV, Shri Vaishnav Institute, RGPV, IPS Academy, Chameli Devi, LNCT, Truba, Sapient also participated in this Summit.
Group Chairman Shri Ashish Sojatia welcomed the Guests and congratulated the team for taking initiatives in this regard. The inaugural event was anchored by Prof. Priyanka and Prof. Silky.
It has been for the first time in Central India that an institution has invited top HR professionals to discuss HR issues. It is expected that this ‘Maha-kumbh’ of HR will generate thought provoking inputs for all concerned. It will be a milestone towards linking industry-institution partnership for the betterment of the society as a whole.
