A Lead Inspector Training Course on “Construction Quality Monitoring (Civil Construction Engineering)” has been organized by the department during December 20-24, 2010. Collaboration: DTE-MP Govt. + ISTE, Delhi + ICMQ + QCI +Acropolis Institute. Participants from the Government Institutions were sponsored (Course Fee of Rs. 16545/- each) by the DTE, M.P. Govt. However, part-fee was sponsored by QCI (quality council of India) for all the participants

Construction Quality Monitoring – A need for Safe Development
In his speech at Acropolis Institute of Technology Indore Shri Ashish Dongre, Director Technical Education MP Government, said that Construction Quality Monitoring is Important for Safe Development. He was talking on the occasion of valedictory ceremony of short-term course on “Lead Inspector – Construction Quality Monitoring”. Shri Dongre was the Chief Guest and highlighted the need of such programmes. He described Civil Engineering as most ancient engineering branch and, brought out that the Civil Engineering is the basis for any development.

CONSTRUCTION QUALITY MONITORING PROGRAMME AT ACROPOLIS SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED: SHRI ASHISH DONGRE, DTE-MP SPEAKS ON THE OCCASION.
Coordinator of the programme Prof. SK Sohani, (Dean-Planning and Head- Civil Engineering) informed that it was a joint effort of DTE-MP Govt, ISTE New Delhi, ICMQ India and QCI (Quality Council of India). In his welcome speech Prof. Sohani brought out that Third-party inspection for quality monitoring of construction projects is an urgent need in the present scenario of fast pace of infrastructural development in the entire country. He mentioned that infrastructural development or civil construction in its various forms has been the basis for any human civilization. Quality construction thus is highly important, which minimizes the risk and improves the quality of life, which every single citizen is looking up to the engineers putting entire faith in them. And, hence appropriately a short-term course on “Lead Inspector – Construction Quality Monitoring” has been organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, Acropolis Institute of Technology & Research, Indore.
Prof. Sohani also informed that the programme is successfully completed and has been quite interactive as engineers from all sectors and from different parts of the state participated, participants included Senior Consultants, Structural Engineers, Engineers from Corporate Sector, IDA, Senior Faculty Members of private & government engineering colleges, polytechnic colleges and University Institute of Technology (RGPV Bhopal). Intake was as per the ISO norms and hence number of participants had to be shortlisted accordingly. QCI (Quality Council of India) has subsidized the Fee for this programme. Fee earlier was Rs. 16545/- and is later on subsidized to Rs.11030/- only.
Prof. RK Shrivastava, Ex-Director SGSITS who is one of the senior-most academicians in Civil Engineering stressed the need for quality planning over quality construction or execution. He was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
Shri Ashish Sojatia Group Chairman and Shri Gaurav Sojatia Chairman were especially present on the occasion. Shri Sojatia’s vision and always a strong push for conducting such programmes as a social responsibility helped conducting the programme. Dr. MD Agrawal, Principal ,Prof MK Dube C.E.O. were also present on the valedictory ceremony.
Some participants : Er. Azad Jain-Structural Consultant, Er. DS Parihar- Structural Engineer, Dr. Ajay Gupta of Ujjain Engineering College, Prof. SK Saxena of SV Polytechnic Bhopal, Prof. Rajesh Jain of Jabalpur Engineering College, shared their views and experiences. Every participant found the programme very informative and highly useful.
Renowned trainers from ICMQ India conducted the training. They included Ms. Chitra C. – a Senior Architect having international exposure, Er. Shailesh – who has completed more than 650 quality monitoring projects for big building projects, Er. AK Shrivastava who is an IIT – Kharagpur pass-out having rich experience of about 40 yrs in Construction & Quality Monitoring.
It has been throughout an excellent learning experience for the participants. Rigorous exercises went on for all the five days. Case Studies and Field Visits were conducted which were indeed very useful. Participants could acquire so many systematic approaches to get desired quality standards in various infrastructural/construction projects. It covered whole range of quality monitoring right from earthwork in excavation to high rise RCC structures.
It is hoped that trained engineers will now disseminate this knowledge, and would also provide their services as Quality Inspector for various construction projects in the entire Madhya Pradesh. Programme started with enchantment of Shloka by Mr. Vinay Kapdi.Er. Alka Sharma conducted the programme and Er. NK Shah passed vote of thanks.
