For inculcating and strengthening research activities in management faculty members, Acropolis Faculty of Management & Research and Faculty of Management Studies has organized “Second National Workshop on Advanced Methodology for Management Research” on 28–29 June 2011. This workshop was meant for the faculty members pursuing or planning to pursue Ph.D. in Management, Economics and Commerce. The resource persons for this workshop were: Prof. Sanjay Rastogi and Prof. Sumer S. Yadav, Director AFMR. Prof. Rastogi is Professor in Quantitative Techniques, Business Research Methods, Econometrics in Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) New Delhi, an autonomous institution set up in 1963. Dr. Jitendra Kumar Sharma was coordinator of the workshop.
On 28 June, 2011, Director AFMR Prof. Yadav welcomed the guest. He presented the inaugural address and threw light upon policy research by highlighting the examples from Lokpal bill and other administrative issues. He has linked the subject with need of qualitative research. The main session was addressed by Prof. Rastogi where he covered basic concepts, formulation of objectives, hypothesis setting, research design, literature review, database and SPSS. He conducted some exercises on SPSS for better facilitation of the participants. The second day session commenced with practice on SPSS. It covered data analysis techniques and various significant aspects. Group exercises were given to the participants who performed it well. In valedictory ceremony, Chairman Acropolis Shri Gaurav Sojatia has witnessed the feedback of participants and gave the Participation Certificates to them. He appreciated the program and the contents.
The workshop covered significant topics for management research like- identification of research problem, objectives, hypothesis formulation, literature review, questionnaire designing, data analysis, SPSS, report writing etc. This two day workshop was attended by 30 participants including 12 participants from outside and rest from both Acropolis campus of Indore. The participants were from Vishwakarma Institute of Management Pune, BSNL Baroda, CH Institute of Management Indore, Vindhya institute of management Indore, Lord Krishna College of Technology Indore, Truba college of Engineering & technology Indore, Shri Cloth Market Girls Commerce College, Acropolis. The program was coordinated by Dr. Jitendra Kumar Sharma. This workshop would be a milestone towards inculcating and developing the spirit of research among the participants.
