Report on Simhasth Educational Trip of MBA Students.

Simhasth , an occasion in which normally huge crowd is expected. It is a period in which people treat it as a  pilgrimage. People visit such place with deep belief. This event occurred in the cycle of every 12 years. It is organized only on  four places i.e. Ujjain, Prayag (Illhabad), Haridwar and Nashik and all were know as “ Kumbh”. Only the “ Kumbh” of Ujjain is known as “Simhasth”. This time the students of Acropolis have got an opportunity to become a part of the research project of Indo-Dutch Government, Crowd management and crowd behavior. Students of Acropolis were given an opportunity to understand the process of crowd management, crowd behavior and Disaster management. This project has been conducted by the Indian Institute of Science Banglore,  in which students of IIMs and IITs were involved. Students of Acropolis got the privilege to become the part of such project. The work of the Acropolis students has been appreciated by the Project Partners , Prof. Ashish of IISC and Prof. Meghna The students visited the project site on 12th May 2016, Thursday. The trip was of around 12 hours. During that period first they visited the Project site, there project partners gave information about the project, how it has been conducted? Later on they were shown some presentation about the activity. On the question, What is the reason for selecting  the “Kumbh” for such activity? The answer was, this is one of the largest people gathering of the world. Then the student visited the Mela site and some camps of Saints. One of the major camp which students visited was of  Shri Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj. Here they have been addressed by the CEO of the trust. He gave the information about the planning and arrangements of the camp. The camp of Swamiji was spread over 9,00,000 sq fit. During the visit they learned how the requirements of such a huge crowd is identified and fulfilled. They learned the traffic arrangements done by the organizers. Moving from one place to another students were also able to observe and understand the lay- out, drinking water arrangement, hospital facilities, safety measures and arrangements in and near river, cleanliness and contingency arrangments.
