Role Summary:

Position is primarily responsible for overseeing the Arts Program for residents. This includes developing and conducting classes and/or workshops in fine arts, crafts, and other artistic expression including weekly programming in Residential Living, Healthcare, Assisted Living and Memory Support. Management and curation of rotating exhibits in the Crossroads Gallery.

This position is non-exempt and is scheduled to work Monday-Friday during standard business hours  (unless there is an evening or special event/program)

Each Life Enrichment team member works one weekend day per month

Job Duties:

  • Develops and implements programs and/or classes of artistic expression and inquiry into the arts and humanities including, but not limited painting, drawing, crafts, ceramics, gallery visits, and artistic films and lectures.
  • Plans and coordinates tasteful exhibitions, art displays, and collections created by residents and community artists. Also coordinates all aspects of art events including events, receptions and advertising.
  • Offers artistic guidance and/or is available for residents on a daily basis for personal assistance with individual projects.
  • Monitors art supplies for adequate availability of supplies when needed; keeps art supplies organized in an efficient and accessible manner. Oversees Woodshop and supplies operated by residents.
  • Assists other staff members with projects by coordinating the use of facilities and resources.
  • Coordinates procedures for planned activities, which may include collecting payments, transportation and ticket arrangements, accompanying residents on trips, and developing trip lists, thank you letters, and other correspondence.
  • Solicits and responds to residents' requests for activities, workshops, and special classes
  • Provides budgetary feedback to supervisor for overall art program; Monitors expenditures for compliance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Expected to actively lead 5-programs a week in the Art Center
  • Expected to actively lead 1 program a week in each of the following: Assisted Living, Healthcare Center and Terrace in addition to the programs in the Arts Center
  • Creates engaging PowerPoint presentations and presents to large groups of residents and guests at Newcomers meetings, art receptions and lectures.
  • Ability to multi-task while planning, organizing and actively engaging in multiple projects
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and work efficiently to meet required deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline preferred or equivalent required with additional training in advanced art, humanities, or related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in conducting artistic classes, workshops, and/or programs required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must have computer skills including Microsoft Office products.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with others.
