Job Description

Adams and Martin Group is seeking a Family Law Attorney to manage a variety of complex legal issues, from divorce and custody to asset division and support cases. This role offers a high level of autonomy and the opportunity to grow within a collaborative and values-driven practice.

Title: Family Law Attorney

Type: Direct Hire/Permanent

Location: Kansas City, MO

Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000 base

  • Lofty bonus, assuming billable hours are met

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, asset division etc.
  • Develop strategic legal plans and collaborate closely with the team.
  • Conduct court appearances and mediations on behalf of clients.
  • Draft, review, and finalize legal documents, motions, and correspondence.
  • Negotiate settlements and communicate clearly with clients throughout the legal process.
  • Maintain timely attendance at court hearings, client meetings, and other appointments.
  • Provide clear guidance and emotional support to clients during stressful legal proceedings.
  • Interview witnesses and prepare them for testimony.
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses and outside consultants as needed.
  • Stay current with changes in family law and related legal precedents.
  • Collaborate effectively with paralegals, the office coordinator, and legal support staff.
  • Uphold professionalism and ethical standards in all client and court interactions.
  • Demonstrate a proactive mindset and willingness to learn, grow, and educate others.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar license in Kansas or Missouri
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in family law
  • Courtroom/litigation experience strongly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organization, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a full caseload independently with administrative support.
