Job Description

We are seeking a Senior IT Specialist with a strong background in GIS technologies (ESRI ArcGIS and Schneider Electric ArcFM) and test engineering to join our utility systems team. This role is ideal for a seasoned GIS professional with 10+ years of hands-on experience supporting Esri-based platforms, including ArcMap, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcFM, while integrating performance optimization techniques using tools like LoadRunner.

You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, responsiveness, and scalability of GIS platforms supporting essential electric and gas utility operations. The ideal candidate is self-driven, solution-oriented, and thrives in dynamic environments where innovation and reliability are key. You should be adept at simulating user behavior, identifying system bottlenecks, and implementing performance improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise GIS platforms including ArcMap, ArcFM, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Pro.
• Develop and execute performance test scripts using LoadRunner in Citrix environments to simulate real-world usage.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, DBAs, infrastructure engineers) to ensure delivery of high-performing GIS applications.
• Tune system performance across all layers (application, database, server) and troubleshoot complex GIS issues affecting user experience.
• Drive the development of custom GIS solutions and tools to enhance utility workflows and operational efficiency.
• Analyze performance metrics, logs, and test results to generate actionable insights.
• Manage upgrades, patches, and enhancements to GIS platforms with minimal operational impact.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to best practices in system monitoring, testing, and GIS solution delivery.
• Document solutions, testing methodologies, recovery plans, and support procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in GIS system support and engineering, preferably in utility (electric/gas/water) environments.
• Deep expertise in ArcFM, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcMap, and related Esri technologies.
• Strong experience with LoadRunner or equivalent performance testing tools.
• Solid understanding of GIS performance tuning techniques and database optimization (SQL Server, Oracle).
• Ability to simulate large user loads, analyze performance, and design scalable solutions.
• Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python/ArcPy) for automation and testing.
• Strong communication skills to convey complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in Agile teams with minimal supervision.
