This role is for a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room of a Level I trauma center. The nurse will provide surgical nursing care, working with various surgical specialties, and will be responsible for patient assessments, medication administration, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. A minimum of three years of experience in a similar setting is required. On-call responsibilities are included.

Responsibilities:
- Providing surgical nursing care across multiple surgical specialties (General Surgery, Neurology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, Transplant, Urology, Trauma).
- Performing patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
- Managing emergency situations (Code response, fire safety, latex allergy, malignant hyperthermia).
- Handling and labeling specimens.
- Administering blood products.
- Maintaining infection control and radiation safety.
- Utilizing Cerner charting system.
- Following Universal Protocol (Time out) procedures.
- Performing urinary bladder catheterization.
- Working with various equipment, including electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room experience.
- Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois.
- BLS certification.
- Experience with Level I trauma, bariatric cases (laparoscopic assisted), and specific surgical procedures (listed in input).
- Experience with Cerner (preferred).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- CNOR
- CST
Special Considerations:
- 4x10-hour shifts (0645-1715).
- One weekend per month required.
- On-call one day per week (frequency varies).
- Will work with all service lines except Cardiovascular.
- All requested time off must be approved by the manager.
- Guaranteed hours: Client may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without penalty; additional cancellations will be billed. On-call shifts in lieu of call-offs count as called-off shifts.
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility.
Scheduling:
- 4 ten-hour shifts per week (0645-1715).
- One weekend per month is required.
- Shift assignments are not flexible; block scheduling is not accommodated.
- On-call responsibilities are part of the role.
