Job Title: Hotel Laundry Attendant
Job Summary:
A Hotel Laundry Attendant is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and availability of linens, towels, and other hotel laundry items. They play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the hotel. This position involves the collection, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distribution of hotel laundry, as well as maintaining laundry equipment and keeping work areas organized.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Laundry Operations:**
- Collect soiled linens, towels, and other laundry items from various hotel departments.
- Sort laundry items by type, color, and fabric content to ensure appropriate washing and drying processes.
- Operate washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment following safety and manufacturer guidelines.
- Add detergent, bleach, and other cleaning agents as needed.
2. **Quality Control:**
- Inspect linens and towels for stains, tears, or damage before and after laundering.
- Report any damaged or stained items for repair or replacement.
3. **Folding and Packaging:**
- Fold and package clean linens and towels neatly.
- Ensure the correct quantity and quality of items in each package.
4. **Inventory Management:**
- Monitor inventory levels of linens, towels, and other laundry items.
- Inform the supervisor or manager of any shortages or excesses.
5. **Maintenance and Safety:**
- Maintain laundry equipment by cleaning and performing routine maintenance tasks.
- Follow safety protocols when using laundry machinery and handling chemicals.
6. **Team Collaboration:**
- Coordinate with housekeeping and other departments to ensure a sufficient supply of clean linens and towels.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to meet guest needs promptly.
7. **Record Keeping:**
- Maintain accurate records of daily laundry operations, including the quantity of items processed.
- Report any irregularities or issues to the supervisor.
8. **Hygiene and Cleanliness:**
- Adhere to strict hygiene and sanitation standards to ensure the cleanliness of laundry items.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in laundry operations is preferred.
- Knowledge of laundry equipment and laundry products.
- Attention to detail and the ability to identify stains or damage on linens.
- Physical stamina to lift and carry heavy laundry bags and stand for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
A Hotel Laundry Attendant is an essential member of the hotel's housekeeping team, contributing to the overall guest experience by ensuring clean, fresh linens and towels are readily available. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to cleanliness, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment to meet guest expectations.
Note: The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. All employees, both management and hourly, must realize this fact and be aware that at times it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift as business demands.
