For more information on Astellas, please visit our website at ** . **The Role:** The Disease Mechanism Research team is seeking a candidate with experience in the drug discovery that demonstrated ability to conceive, lead and execute computational analyses at the intersection of biology and technology. The candidates should demonstrate proficiency in advanced computational tools and high dimensional analysis relevant to cutting-edge biological research. The candidate should have exceptional analytical skills enabling them to interpret and communicate intricate scientific insights effectively. A successful candidate will contribute to a deeper understanding of cancer biology in focused cancer indications and support the enabling of Astellas pipeline in oncology. **Responsibilities:** + Provide technical leadership in the analysis of bulk and single cell NGS and DNA methylation to inform target discovery and mechanism-of-action studies. + Design and implement novel bioinformatics algorithms for sequence analysis. + Serve as an individual contributor on key projects, delivering high-impact analyses and tool development using Python, R, or similar languages + Partner with wet-lab biology research scientists, protein engineers and chemists to guide experimental design and validate computational predictions. + Design and implement computational algorithms to analyze multi-omics, multi-modal, and high-content data, with applications in target engagement evaluation, patient stratification, response prediction, indication selection, assay development, and diagnostic development. + Work with translational teams on biomarker discovery and, as needed, patient stratification strategies **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor's/Master's degree with **8-10 years of industry experience** , or a **Ph.D. with 3+ years of industry experience** in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or Data Science, with robust background in Biology + Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages. + Hands-on experience with **NGS** and **single-cell data analysis** , including use of tools such as Seurat, Scanpy, or equivalent. + Deep understanding of real-world data (RWD) resources of oncology, including TCGA and Project GENIE, with practical knowledge of their structure and applications. + Extensive experience handling and analyzing large oncology datasets + Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment + Ability to translate biological and medical questions into analytical models providing actionable results + Solid data science and analytical skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication in English **Preferred Qualifications:** + Strong understanding of platforms used in biological research, including flow cytometry, immunoassays, next-generation sequencing (NGS), and proteomics. + Track record of contributing to **biologics** or **multi-modal drug discovery** programs. **Work Conditions** + This position is based in the US or Japan and will require on-site work/management in principle. + As the person working in a global organization, participation in early morning and late-night meetings is required occasionally. **Salary Range** **:** $103,600 - $148,000 (NOTE: Final salary could be more or less, based on experience) **Benefits:** + Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance + Generous Paid Time Off options, including Vacation, Sick time, plus national holidays including Heritage Days, and Summer and Winter Breaks + 401(k) match and annual company contribution + Company paid life insurance + Annual Corporate Bonus and Quarterly Sales Incentive for eligible positions + Long Term Incentive Plan for eligible positions + Referral bonus program _All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or on the basis of disability._ \#LI-TR1 Category Cancer Biology Astellas is committed to equality of opportunity in all aspects of employment.
