Workshop on VISION 2020

The inaugural ceremony started with Lighting the Lamp with Goddess Saraswati in the morning with Guest of Honor, Mr. Nitin Kamal(Business Development Officer TCS Mumbai), Mr. Rajeev Vatsal(Prinicpal Consultant, EMC Consulting), Mr.Atul Purohit(IT Consultant), Mr. Gaurav Sojatia(Chairman, AITR), Dr. Shilpa Bhalerao(Convener and HoD FCA,AITR), Dr. Kamal Bharani(Principal AITR), Prof. Kamal Sethi(Head of Department of IT), Prof. Sanjay Bansal(Head of Department of CSE), faculty members and participants of the workshop.

The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Kamal Bharani(Principal AITR). Dr. Shilpa Bhalerao presented a gist of the workshop and elaborated the agenda for the two days during the workshop. The anchoring of the session was done by Prof. Jayant Bihare and Prof. Kalyani Patwardhan.

This workshop was intended to be concluded in two days where the speakers delivered talks on the topics as ERP/Cloud Computing/Big Data etc. The keynotes for the day one were Mr.Nitin Kamal(TCS), Mr. Rajeev Vatsal(EMC) and Mr.Atul Purohit(Consultant). The workshop was conducted with aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and scholars to exchange and share their vision and research challenges about all aspects of Computer Science and Information Technology, and discuss the practical challenges to cope up future requirements. Tutorials and lectures from eminent scientists and researchers guided academia to identify gaps and problems in current research areas of Computer Science and Information Technology and helped them to visualize futuristic computer application. Also, this workshop was helpful in identifying requirements of application software’s for society welfare.

“An approximate growth of 800% in the data explosion is expected by 2020 as stated by Forrester and Gartner in the report and this data has to be managed accordingly, which is the biggest challenge” was told by Mr. Nitin Kamal, Business Development Officer of Tata Consultancy Services Digital Enterprise Unit , Mumbai(India) on the first day of the Workshop on the futuristic trends in computer science and Engineering and IT. He had emphasized and explained the role of Big Data in the field of technology and in the coming time. He had also given a gist of Stages of information management, Data Science, key challenges in big data, BigData and character sticks, Hadoop solution framework, ETL extract transfer and load processes, Hadoop and its Eco system, Hadoop architecture, and map reduce algorithms for searching. He had motivated the audience for the use of technology like Hadoop and Map Reduce for the better use and management of BigData and had given an in depth demonstration over the “R” Language for the management and Business Intelligence using the BigData over small domain of Twitter as a case study. Prof. Sanjay Bansal gave a vote of thanks for the wonderful sharing of knowledge by the speaker.

The second session of the workshop was taken by Mr. Rajeev Vatsal, Principal Consultant, EMC Consulting. He had given an idea about Information Strategy around Information Lifecycle Management solutions and had explained the role played by the importance of data and information in the revolutionary world as a whole. He had also given a fantastic description of need for information over the period of time and why is big data growing in this realm. He had emphasized the cloud computation platform and the use of data centers and RAID based technologies in order to manage and manipulate the data. He had talked about the algorithms that the organizations normally use in order to provide a better response from the data warehouses and data marts. He had enlightened the researches over new and expected researches that may be a field of research in the coming future, five year down the line and had given excellent examples for the data analysis and ILCM i.e. information life cycle management. Prof. Kamal Sethi gave a vote of thanks for the wonderful sharing of knowledge by the speaker.

The third and last session for the first day was delivered by Mr.Atul Purohit who had been a freelancer consultant in the locality and had been providing the consultancy from over a period of more than two decades. He had emphasized on the need for ERP and Big Data in the society. He had specified his experience over CRM-Customer Relationship Management, and the involving of big Data in CRM. He focused on the traditional ways of working of CRM ten years ago and had given a difference in the strategy that the business giants follow which is changing the face of the CRM modal that the organization uses. He demonstrated some applications that uses a brilliant CRM modal to give the customer the maximum that an organization can give and the best outcome can be derived. He had suggested that there are strong strategy planning tools that an organization can use so that we could predict the customer behavior over a period of time and we could generate great business in the coming future. He had emphasized that over the next coming years CRM is going to be a big time work and Siebel is contributing the best in this domain. Dr. Shilpa Bhalerao gave a vote of thanks for the wonderful sharing of knowledge by the speaker.

The anchoring of the session is done by Prof. Nidhi Dahale and Prof. Kalyani Patwardhan. The second day of the workshop was intended to deliver the knowledge of ERP,Analytics in Research, Future of Technology and Futuristic Industry Requirements. The keynotes for the day two were Mr.Anup Sharma(TCS), Dr. Maya Ingle(DAVV Indore), Dr.N.S. Chouwdhary(VNIT Nagpur), and Mr.Sanjeev Agarwal(Impetus Indore).

“No matter whether a professional belongs to any domain of working, he will have to work on ERP and its solutions in the coming five years” was stated by Mr. Anup Sharma who is Project Manager (Implementation of Oracle ERP, TCS Mumbai), on the second day of the Workshop on the futuristic trends in computer science and Engineering and IT. He had emphasized and explained the role of ERP in the field of technology and in the coming time. He gave an idea for the evolution of ERP systems and the entire profile of various stakeholders in the field of ERP implementations. He highlighted that the future of ERP applications will be in the Cloud Computation domain where the entire ERP and the business of individuals shall reside in clouds and the complete scenario will change as compared to the past times. He had convinced the audience that the face of technology is rapidly changing over the period of time and the complete scene will further refine itself in the coming part of the decade. Even small business shall be changing in their existence where people will use tools like ERP delivered by big players like Oracle, SAP, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics etc.

The second session of the workshop was taken by Dr. Maya Ingle, Professor, SCSIT, DAVV, Indore She had given an idea about how much importance does mathematics have in the field of research and development. She emphasized on the concept of using the correct tool required during research and development with the help of Mathematics and the analytical reasoning. She explained the need for research and the use of mathematics to facilitate the research and how we could improve on the research platform. She gave the idea for starting any research level project to the audience and the research scholars as well as the students of the institute. Her entire session focused the use of tools like Statistical Analysis, recurrence relations, mathematical modeling and various simulation techniques that are required for creating a proper work project.

The third session for the second day was delivered by Dr. N.S. Choudhary, Director, VNIT, Nagpur who presented the actual scenario for futuristic technologies. One of the most significant trends identified in the presentation was “viewing everything through an application lens is coming to an end.”

And now everything is growing at a much faster rate than ever expected. Platform Architectures, Social Platforms, Cloud Computing, Data Security, Data Privacy, Analytics, Architecture and Customer experience are the main parameters for the same and are actually the area of focus where one can find the future of technology by the end of this decade.

The fourth and last session was carried on by Mr. Sanjeev Agarwal, Vice President – Operations & Human Empowerment, Impetus Technologies Indore. He had quoted that a huge manpower is required in the field of technology and the need for skilled workers over various new trends are in demand. He quoted various requirements that an industry need in the coming future and expanded the discussion on the Key Resource Areas of the man power that are needed in the future. A technology freak is the need for tomorrow and one shall always remain ready to acquire the new trends passed on over decades in the field of ever expanding circle of technology and applications.
